TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve Review

Today I am going to be doing an in depth TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve review.

I am going to look at exactly what the product is designed to do, explore all of its specifics, and determine just how successfully it backs up all of its claims.

While many people regularly look at products to help enhance their workouts, items designed to help with recovery are often overlooked.

This can lead to problems down the road, as niggling injuries derail your progress and can even lead to you missing extended stretches of time in the gym.

So, if you are looking for something to help keep your body in tip top condition and avoid any minor injuries turning into major ones, I recommend you join me as I explore just how effective of a solution the TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve is to these sorts of problems.

About The Manufacturer: TheraICE RX

TheraICE RX are a company based in Miami, Florida, which specialises in products that help with pain reduction and recovery from injuries.

Despite being a relatively new company, their products are all incredibly well reviewed, with many people claiming they have been a great help on their road to recovery.

TheraICE RX products all revolve around hot and cold therapy. This is the process by which you use different temperatures to soothe and repair injured or damaged muscles and joints.

Many of their products also use compression, which helps to increase blood flow to the afflicted area and stabilise the joint, both of which create the perfect environment for the body to heal itself.

Their current range of products includes a headache and migraine relief hat, an ice pack head wrap, a wrist ice pack, and the compression sleeve we will be looking at today.

About The TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve

The TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve is made from 3/8ths of an inch thick neoprene and weighs around 1.5 pounds.

It is available in 4 different sizes, which covers circumferences of 9 to 26 inches, as well as two different colours, black or pink. It has a recommended retail price of $49.99.

The sleeve utilises compression as well as both hot and cold therapy to produce results. It is safe to be placed directly on the skin and doesn’t require any barrier between the two.

It can be used on numerous parts of your body, including your ankles, calves, biceps, triceps, forearms, elbows, knees, hamstrings, quads, or thighs.

It is, however, important to note that. while the sleeve is extremely versatile, it can only be stretched so far before it will stop returning to its original shape.

Bear this in mind when using it, as a sleeve bought primarily for use on the arms may not continue to function at the same level if you begin to use it on a much larger area like your legs as well.

How Does The TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve Work?

The TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve utilises both compression and hot and cold therapy.

While both of these techniques can be effective on their own, the combination of the two creates the opportunity to dramatically speed up recovery times and achieve results.

Compression is capable of helping to repair an injury in a variety of ways.

The number one benefit of using compression on an injury is that it dramatically improves blood circulation to the area.  This ensures there is an ample supply of blood carrying oxygen and nutrients to the injured area, both of which are essential for helping the body to repair itself.

In addition, it will also stop any lymph fluids from building up around the site, which will help to remove any waste materials from the area.

Another benefit of compression is that it will prevent any swelling around the site of the injury or reduce any that has already occurred.

Swelling is the body’s way of trying to protect a damaged joint or muscle while it heals. However, it is counterproductive, as it puts a lot of pressure on the area and makes it more difficult for the nutrients and oxygen required for recovery to be transported to the site. This means relieving it is essential for recovery.

The final benefit of compression is that it can alleviate much of the pain that goes along with an injury.

After the shock of the initial impact has worn off, the majority of the pain you experience from an injured muscle or joint comes from swelling that puts pressure on the area.

By reducing the swelling, it reduces the amount of pain you experience at the same time. This ensures you will be much more comfortable and capable of getting the rest your body needs to repair itself.

Cold & Hot Therapy

Applying materials of different temperatures to a muscle or joint will alter its ability to heal itself and reduce tension.

However, as hot and cold will have differing effects, it is important to use the correct one for your situation. Using the wrong option not only negates any benefits the sleeve may offer, but it can also exacerbate the issue.

Heat is generally recommended for use when experiencing general muscle pain or stiffness. It is used to increase blood circulation to the target area, helping the muscles to relax and boosting their flexibility.

There is no maximum length of time that heat can be applied for, as extended use is extremely unlikely to cause any complications.

However, it is important to make sure the sleeve is warm and not hot, as using too great of a temperature could lead to burns or damage to the skin.

Cold, on the other hand, is best reserved for acute pain or when you need to reduce inflammation.

It works in the complete opposite way to heat, as it reduces blood flow to the area, which helps bring down any inflammation and relieve all of the pain that goes along with it.

Cold therapy must be used for a shorter duration than hot, especially if using ice. Sessions should be kept to a maximum of 10 to 15 minutes, otherwise there is the potential for damage to the skin, nerves, and muscle tissue.

How To Use The TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve

As effective as the TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve can be, it is still important to know the best ways of using it, depending on where abouts on your body you intend it to be worn.

While there is an extensive list of potential uses for the sleeve, I want to give you some basic instructions on how to use it to treat some of the most common issues it is purchased for.

Knees – Arthritis Pain

Cold should be used initially after an injury, for periods of 10 to 15 minutes at a time, in order to bring down any swelling.

If being used for arthritis, this can then be continued indefinitely, as arthritis is a disease that causes continuous inflammation of the joints.

Once all inflammation has subsided, you will then want to switch to using heat, in order to help speed up recovery.

Heat the sleeve in 10 second increments until it reaches the desired temperature, as this avoids the possibility of it getting too hot.

You then want to use it for 20-minute sessions, taking breaks in between to ensure the area doesn’t become sore or get overheated.

Golfer’s Elbow

To use the sleeve to treat golfer’s elbow, you want to apply it to the joint heated before a game or session.

This will help you to achieve maximum flexibility and boost blood flow, while reducing pain and stiffness, ensuring you can perform in the most effective and pain free manner possible.

Then, after you are done, you can use cold therapy with the sleeve to bring down any swelling or inflammation that has been caused while playing the sport.

Wrist Pain

Wrist pain is treated in much the same way as golfer’s elbow.

Use heat prior to any physical activity, in order to maximise flexibility and relieve any pain.

Then, when you are finished, apply cold to the area to provide immediate relief from pain and reduce any swelling and inflammation caused by the activity.

Calf Strain

A calf strain should be treated with a 10-to-20-minute sessions of cold therapy as soon after the injury has taken place as possible.

This should then be repeated every two hours until all of the swelling and inflammation has been relieved.

At this point, you will then switch to heat therapy, which will further reduce any lingering pain, while stimulating blood flow to the area and improving flexibility. This will help the damage to be repaired as quickly as possible.

Pros and Cons Of The TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve

While there are a substantial number of benefits associated with the TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve, there are also some potential drawbacks with it as well, as there is with any product.

Before you purchase the product, it is essential that you weigh up both the pros and the cons, to make certain that this is the correct item for you.

The TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve is an excellent product, which can benefit people suffering with injuries in a number of ways.

The ability to offer compression as well as both hot and cold therapy means there is almost no joint or muscle issue that it won’t offer some benefit for.

Admittedly, its cost and warranty will be off-putting for some. However, with the official website often having sales, you will still be able to get hold of it for a reasonable price if you time it right.

The lack of availability outside of the United States is a bigger issue though, and one they need to address if they intend to become one of the core players in the rehabilitation game.

Other than those small drawbacks though, this is an item that has all the hallmarks of a product which can become a staple in the health and fitness industry for the foreseeable future.

All in all, the TheraICE RX Compression Sleeve is a product I would definitely recommend to anyone suffering from joint or muscle issues.
